Raku Clay Pottery

I was drawn to Raku clay because of the unpredictable results and the vibrant colors that can occur through the firing process. With Raku clay you must remove the pieces from the kiln while it’s still glowing hot. The piece needs to be quickly placed in a barrel filled with combustible material, such as newspaper, covered, and allowed to smoke which will allow certain colors and patterns to appear on the art.
